Export-mailbox to PST file: unknown error in approving object

Filed under: Exchange Server — Rahul Patel @ 12:28 pm

I have some issue in exporting mailbox to pst file script on last month in Exchange 2007 Environment.

Basically for the backup purpose i have scheduled one script for backing up All user’s mailbox to pst every 3 hours.

It worked fine whole years but last month in November, its suddenly stop to worked with following error:

Error was found for User Name(email address) because: Error occurred in the step: Approving object. An unknown error has occurred., error code: -2147221233

I have found that one of the hotfix of outlook 2010 is responsible for this error. I have uninstalled this hotfix and restarted workstation, after that i ran this script manually and now it’s works!!

Please uninstall this hotfix and block from you WSUS server also.

Hotfix : KB2687623

I have also found one more hotfix, we need to remove : KB2598374.

Update February 2013

Please remove KB2597090

  1. if in Outlook, errors occur, not to worry because these errors can be fix easily with PST Repair Tool and you can get your PST files back hassle free.

    • hi,

This is not a subject to a pst repair, this is automated backup of each and every user mailbox with new mail in scheduled time.
This is only for advanced IT expert who want to manage their mailbox backup with this type of scenario.
